Contact Your Senators Today: Protect Affordable Health Care

THE ISSUE

Senate is currently discussing the American Health Care Act (AHCA), a plan that would repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

In May, the GOP passed the American Health Care Act. Since then, Senate Republicans have been preparing their version of the bill for Senate consideration and aim to send it to the Congressional Budget Office for scoring by sometime next week. – American Muslim Health Professional (AMHP)

THE IMPACT

  • The American Health Care Act will cut $834 million in Medicaid spending, which will affect low- moderate income Americans (31 states adopted Medicaid expansion).
  • Average premiums for health plans will be cheaper after 2020 than under Obamacare, but on average, those plans will cover less and have higher out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Result in the loss of health care coverage for over 20 million Americans over the next decade.
  • Reinstate processes that allow people to discriminate against patients with pre-existing conditions.

TAKE ACTIONS

  • Urge your Senators to prevent the passing of the Act. Contact both of your state senators to oppose it.
  • AMHP is participating in an important lobby day in Washington, DC on June 22nd. Please RSVP with AMHP using the form included here by Wednesday, June 21st by 5pm EST.
